Email Health Checker by Beacon — Effective September 6, 2026

Summary

Email Health Checker by Beacon is a free Chrome extension that checks whether the website you're currently viewing has SPF, DKIM, and DMARC email-authentication records set up correctly. This extension does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. It has no account system, no analytics, and no server of its own.

What the extension does

When you click the toolbar icon (or the badge updates automatically as you browse), the extension reads the domain of the active tab and performs public DNS lookups for that domain's SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. These lookups are sent using DNS-over-HTTPS to Cloudflare's public resolver at cloudflare-dns.com — the only external service this extension communicates with.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect, log, or transmit: page content, browsing history, personal information, authentication credentials, financial information, health information, or location data. The extension never sends the domains you check to Beacon or to any server we operate.

Local storage

To avoid repeating identical DNS lookups, results for a domain are cached for up to 30 minutes using Chrome's local storage API. This cache lives only on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and is cleared automatically as entries expire or when the extension is removed.

Permissions

  • activeTab / tabs — used only to read the current tab's domain so the extension knows what to check, and to detect when you switch tabs so the badge can update. No page content is read.
  • storage — used only for the local 30-minute result cache described above.
  • host permission for cloudflare-dns.com — used only to perform the DNS-over-HTTPS lookups described above.

Third parties

The only third party involved is Cloudflare's public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver, used solely to perform standard DNS lookups on the domain you're viewing. No data is shared with any advertising, analytics, or data-broker service.

Children's privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new effective date.
